The Space Ecosystem Center is a unit of the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) responsible for developing, coordinating, and supporting cooperation between the University and national and international partners in the field of space exploration and the utilization of space technologies.
The Center was established on 25 June 2026 by the Rector of SGH in response to the dynamic growth of the global space sector and the increasing importance of space technologies for economic development, national security, healthcare, public administration, and the development of future skills.
The mission of the Center is to integrate the Polish space ecosystem by fostering long-term cooperation between academia, research institutions, public administration, and industry. The Center is founded on the belief that modern space exploration and utilization require an interdisciplinary approach that combines technical, economic, social, medical, biological, biotechnological, legal, and communication sciences.
An important catalyst for the creation of the Center was the IGNIS mission carried out in 2025 - the first Polish scientific and technological mission to the International Space Station involving ESA Project Astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski. During the mission, thirteen experiments developed by Polish research institutions and companies were conducted in orbit, demonstrating Poland’s growing capabilities and potential within the global space sector.
The Space Ecosystem Center supports the development of education, scientific research, technological projects, expert analyses, and initiatives promoting the importance of the space sector for society and the economy.
CENTER ACTIVITIES
1. Integration of the Polish Space Ecosystem
Building cooperation between universities, research institutes, public administration, international organizations, and companies operating within the space sector.
2. Education and Skills Development
Creating and supporting educational programs, courses, workshops, seminars, and initiatives that develop competencies required in the space sector.
3. Science, Research, and Innovation
Initiating and supporting scientific, research and development, implementation, and technology projects related to space exploration and the utilization of space technologies.
4. Analysis, Expertise, and Public Policy
Preparing analyses, reports, and recommendations concerning the development of the space sector and its impact on the economy, security, education, and public administration.
5. Outreach and International Cooperation
Promoting the achievements of the Polish space sector, organizing events, and supporting the participation of Polish stakeholders in national and international space initiatives.
